My reveal card uses the new Magic Of The Season set.  I live in the south so I don’t see as much snow as I did when growing up in Minnesota.  It was always so exciting to see the snow coming down and we always had the hopeful suspense waiting to see if school would be closed so we could bundle up and go build a snowman.  That was what came to mind when I saw this sweet set and decided to try to show this on my card.

I started with a decorative piece of cardstock and ran it through a snowflake embossing folder.  I sponged the raised snowflake with Versamagic White Cloud ink and heat embossed with Winter White embossing powder.  I tore a piece of white cardstock and covered with Versamark Ink and Winter White embossing powder, heat set, and added to the bottom.  This was all popped up on a piece of red cardstock with Firecracker Red embossing powder added to the edges, using the Distressed Embossing Powder Technique, and a white card base.

The magical hat was heat embossed with Midnight Madness embossing powder, colored with Copic markers, and fussy cut.  Firecracker Red embossing powder was added to the little berries, Sparkle embossing powder to the jingle bell, and Winter White embossing powder underneath and on top of the hat and bell.  I purposely did not use my Embossing Buddy so small amounts of the Winter White would adhere to various areas of the hat and I heat set from underneath so they would stay in place.  I popped this up on top of the “snowdrift”.

The rest of the snowman was created with three sizes of circles, die cut with Spellbinder dies.  After embossing the sentiment on the medium sized circle, I covered all three with Versamark Ink and Sparkle embossing powder, heat set, and popped them up on the card front.  For embellishments I added some plaid ribbon to look like a scarf, and added Mon Ami Gabbi Rhinestone Strips at the top and bottom of the card front.

Love the feel of winter, even if it is over 90 degrees outside.  You can find detailed instructions for this card in the SNS gallery here.

We hope you enjoy the New Reveals as much as we do!
Wonder which Designer contains the Grand Prize this month?

Christmas Holly

Our recent combined blog hop with Die-Versions was so much fun.  It was really neat to see what everyone created with the different products.  Thank you to everyone that left comments.

I thought I would share one more card I made using one of the new Die-Versions dies, Whispers Holly Branch.  This makes a lovely but fairly simple holiday card.

The image is from the Christmas Holly stamp set.  It was stamped and colored with copics in the center of a piece of white cardstock.  Then I ran “Tear-ific” tape around all the edges and added Gyspsy Red Velvet Glitter.  This was layered onto the white card base.

I covered a smaller piece of white cardstock with a super adhesive sheet and die cut an oval window out of the center.  After removing the protective layer, I covered this with Cloud Nine Velvet Glitter and then I ran it through an embossing folder (see Dry Embossing on Velvet Glitter in Tips and Techniques).  The embossed design doesn’t not show a lot in the picture but it leaves a nice subtle design.  Then I used dimensionals to pop this up on the card front with the image centered in the window.

Next I cut out 2 of the Holly Branch die cuts from white cardstock.  I trimmed off a small section of each so that they did not extend too far over the image in the window and used dimensional glue to adhere them to two opposite corners.  I added the small pieces I cut off to the ends of the swirly die cuts so they extended a little further on each side.  I had planned to add glitter to these die cuts, but decided I liked how the plain white stood out on the glittered/embossed top layer.

Thanks for stopping by!
