Acrylic Distress

Today I want to share an easy technique I was shown.  It is called Acrylic Distress and it creates a framing around your image or sentiment.

You start with a piece of cardstock and simply brush white acrylic paint around the edges.  After it dries, you sponge ink along the edge of the paint and wipe off any access.  For my card I used a light blue piece of cardstock.  I happened to have a little pink waterc0lor paint left in my brush so it gave this lovely light pink edge.  Don’t you love when a mistake creates something awesome.  I used brown Distress Ink to sponge around the paint and it looked great with the light pink paint.

The new Relaxing in the Sand image from Just For Fun was stamped with brown Memento Ink in the center.  This was layered on blue and brown.

The sentiment is JFF's new The Voice of the Sea.  This was stamped on another piece of light blue cs and layered on brown.  I sponged the brown Distress Ink on some white sheer ribbon for my bow.

I think you will enjoy this technique because it is very easy and not real messy.  Try it with different light colored cardstock and different colored inks.  I love how it looks.

Old Time Bicycle

We are experiencing gorgeous weather and it is wonderful to spend time outside.  It has been quite a while since I have ridden a bicycle, but I use to really enjoy it.  Just For Fun’s spring release included some new images with bicycles and this card uses the Old Time Bicycle Motif.

The image was colored with Copic Markers, using colors from the background cardstock.  It was layered on blue linen, die cut with Sue Wilson’s Madison Square from her York Collection, and backed with pink cardstock.

The background cardstock is from Echo Park, backed with layers of more blue linen and pink.  Green ribbon was added, coordinating with the background paper.

Have a lovely week.

Just For Fun April Monthly Challenge

Where did March go?  It just flew by and today is April 1st and time for a new challenge at Just For Fun Rubber Stamps blog.  The theme for April is Springtime/Easter.  Here is my card using Just For Fun stamps.

I started this card by creating a watercolor background, using Kuretake Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.  These same markers were used to add color directly to the rubber of the Wildflowers stamp, spritzed lightly with water and stamped on the background.

The Love U Bunnies were stamped with Memento Ink and colored with the Zig markers.  They were fussy cut and added among layers of grass created with a Martha Stewart border punch and watercolored.  The Jelly Bean was colored and stamped numerous times, cut out, and placed in the grass.  Smell Jelly Beans? was used for the sentiment.

Now it is your turn.  Check out the challenge details here, along with more inspiration from my fellow designers.  Then get out those Spring/Easter stamps and get creative!
